Optimizing the Title Tag
Posted by john shehata in Meta Data
Title Tags are the most important HTML element in Search Engine Optimization. Page Title Tag should always contain your most important keyword(s). The more important the keyword, the closer it should be towards the beginning.
Here are some important principles to remember when writing page titles:
Create a keyword driven descriptive < TITLE > as they are often more effective.
Never use ALL CAPS in titles.

Do not make the title tag difficult to read.

Should be limited to 60-65 characters (including spaces) to be Google-safe and Yahoo-safe.
Always use your primary keywords in the title tag at least once.
Try to place your primary keywords at the start of the tag.
Place your brand name at the end of the tag.
Avoid listing the same word multiple times since some engines penalize for this.
Use the longer form and the plural form of a keyword when possible. For example, if you use “preventing†in your Title tag, a search on “preventing†or “prevent†will yield a match on most engines. However, words like “agencies†will not always yield a match on “agency†since “agency†is not an exact substring of “agenciesâ€. In these cases you’ll want to try to use both forms of the word.
Make your title interesting and compelling to the reader to show them why they should click there.
Remember that user bookmarks and browser windows will use the titles as “mnemonics†or “short descriptionsâ€, so it is duly important.
Avoid fluff or marketing-centric words like free, simple, best, easy, etc. when possible.
